Who Are the WE We're Becoming? Retreat
Spiral into a new phase of spiritual awareness
Bayo Akomolafe (via internet); Ellen Bruckner; Ann Jackson, PBVM; and Laura Weber

In this moment in history, humans are poised to spiral into a new phase of spiritual awareness and conscious evolution. Never before have we been so aware of our inter-connectedness! In this weekend retreat at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha), explore a communal field awareness—a shared field of energy and intention. Intentionally choosing to release the ego’s need for domination, you can open to an energizing “we-space,” where co-creative dialogue emerges. Learn to focus your energy on consciousness itself, the Ground of All Being. Meditative practices will help you lean into this larger field, sense the communal energy as a whole, expand your capacity for listening and engage authentic dialogue.

This retreat will be facilitated by Bayo Akomolafe (via internet); Ellen Bruckner; Ann Jackson, PBVM; and Laura Weber. Bayo Akomolafe is a self-described “poet, philosopher, psychologist, professor, (who) is passionate about the preposterous.” He has been called “a composer of new cosmic language for these times.” Bayo is a frequent keynote speaker on sustainability, the changing ontology of activism, climate change, poverty eradication and decolonization. He hopes to co-create a trans-local “mycelial” sharing of wisdoms, evoke a “politics of surprise” and nurture a counterintuitive movement for a more beautiful world. Ellen Bruckner is a facilitator skilled in the “Art of Hosting” and emergent dialogue. Ann Jackson, PBVM, and Laura Weber are spiritual directors on staff at Prairiewoods who delight in co-creating retreats focused on conscious emergence.

The cost of this weekend retreat is $230 and includes sessions, lodging and all meals. The commuter fee is $180 and includes sessions, Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday lunch. A non-refundable deposit of $25 is required at registration. (Full payment is required to register online. If you prefer to pay the $25 registration fee now and the balance when you arrive, please call 319-395-6700.) If you want to stay in a Hermitage, you also will need to register by phone. If you have dietary restrictions that affect your health, please call or send an email to ecospirit@prairiewoods.org.
